Pro Football Odds Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints Free Pick

NFL week 5 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana to take on the New Orleans saints. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on Fox. Current Vegas odds have the Saints listed as 10 point favorites, while the total is set at 48.

Analysis: The Tampa Bay Bucs started the year at 0-3, which included and embarrassing 56-14 loss at Atlanta on a Thursday night. Well last week the Bucs went into the game on the road vs Pitt with many thinking they were one of the two worst teams in the league, but they shocked everyone with a late 27-24 win. The Bucs are 12-2 ATS on the road off a SU win, but they are 0-3 ATS in their last 3 games on the road vs the Saints. The Bucs started the year with Josh McCown at QB, but he is now out and that leaves the offense in the hands of Mike Glennon, who threw for 302 yards vs Pittsburgh last week. He has a nice weapon to throw to in rookie WR Mike Evans, who has 203 yards receiving so far on the year, while Bobby Rainey leads the team in rushing with 199 yards. The Tampa offense is 30th overall, 32nd in passing, 24th in rushing and 29th in scoring (18 ppg), while their defense ranks 26th overall, 29th vs the pass, 17th vs the run and 31st in points allowed (29.8 ppg).

The New Orleans Saints also come into this game at 1-3 on the year, which is very disappointing for a team that many thought had a chance to make it to the Super Bowl. They look to get back on track after a horrible showing in Dallas last week. The Saints are 4-1 ATS the last 5 in this series, but they are also 1-5 ATS after allowing 35 points or more to a non-division opponent. Drew Brees is off to another solid start as he has a 99.5 QBR, throwing for 1203 yards with 7 TDs and 3 INTs so far. He leads an offense that ranks 3rd overall, 3rd in passing, 9 in rushing and 16th in scoring (23.8 ppg). Defense is really where this team has struggled, as they come in ranked 29th overall, 21st vs the run and 27th in points allowed.

Pick: The Saints really need to put a big game together and I say they will do so in this one. The Saints really know how to put a whipping on this team at home as they are 3-0 ATS in their last 3 meetings vs them here, with all 3 wins coming by 11 points more. Even worse is the last two years in which the Saints won 41-0 and 42-17 at this venue. We also note here that the Saints are 12-1 ATS at home off a SU loss, winning by an average margin of 20 ppg. Saints by at least 2 TDs here.
