New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns NFL Football Free Pick

NFL Week 2 and we will see the New Orleans Saints travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take on the Cleveland Browns. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Saints listed as 6.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 48.5.

Analysis: The New Orleans Saints come in off a tough 37-34 loss to the Atlanta Falcons to start their year. The Offense for the Saints looked strong as usual, as they piled up 472 yards on the day. Drew Brees was solid as he hit 29 of 42 passes for 333 yards with 1 TD and 1 pick on the day. Marques Colston had a solid day as well with 5 catches for 110 yards on the day, but he did not have a TD. Offense is never a problem for this team and after improving greatly on the defensive side of the ball last year they reverted back to their old form by allowing the Falcons to put up 568 yards of offense, including 445 through the air.

The Cleveland Browns also took a loss in their opener and it also was a thrilling game as they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers by a 30-27 score, when Shaun Suisham hit a FG as time expired. In the game the Browns were actually down 27-3 at on point, but they just didn't give up. Brian Hoyer had a decent game for the Browns, as he hit 19 of 31 passes for 206  yards and a TD. Still it was the ground attack that really led the Browns in this one as they pounded that Steeler defense for 183 yards on 30 carries (6.1 ypc). Terrence West led that ground attack with 199 yards on 16 carries. The defense of the Browns was supposed to be their strength, but they allowed 503 yards overall, including 376 yards through the air to the Steelers.

Pick: Going to look to the Under in this one. The Cleveland Brown will not score a ton of points by throwing the ball this year and pass defense looks like a weakness of the Saints. Still you have to expect the Saints to wanna come out with a better defensive effort than they did last week, when they were torched by the Falcons for 500+ yards. The Browns just pounded away for 183 yards on the ground last week and will look to do so here as they are depleted at WR and neither Hoyer or Manziel are capable of big passing day. allot of running will keep the clock moving and the Saints offense on the sidelines. New Orleand has a high scoring offense for sure, but they will be facing a better defense this week than they did last week. The Brown did struggle some on defense last week vs Big Ben, but still this is the strength of their team and I expect a good effort from them in this one. I look for no more than 42 points here.
