Boston's pitchers limited the Baltimore Orioles to seven runs and a .216 average in the three games to open the season. Offensively they did fairly well, collecting a .303 batting average and an on base percentage of .367 in those contests against Baltimore. Xander Bogaerts has been killing the baseball, clubbing a .556 average in three games so far this year. He's hitting seventh in the lineup today against the Brewers. Dustin Pedroia has seven hits so far this season as well as the Red Sox are off to a great start offensively.
Taking the mound will be Jake Peavy for the Sox. He went 12-5 last season and has held current Brewers to a .200 average in 65 plate appearances. Last year in home games he was a dominant pitcher, going 7-0 and allowing opponents to hit just .208 against him in home contests split between the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. Peavy went 4-1 with a 4.04 ERA in 10 starts with the Red Sox in the regular season.
The Brewers will counter with Marco Estrada, who went 7-4 last season. He had a 1.63 ERA during September for Milwaukee and was very good in road games a a season ago, going 5-2 in 12 starts with a 2.09 ERA. He allowed opponents to hit just .171 against him in those starts. Yet, with as much going on in Fenway Park today we like the Red Sox to get the win in this contest today.
