College Football Free Picks Florida State Seminole vs Florida Gators

The second-ranked Florida State Seminoles seek a prefect regular season as they take on the Florida Gators at the Swamp this Saturday. The game has a start time of 12:00 pm (Eastern) and be will televised on ESPN. Current odds have Florida State listed as 28 point favorites, while the total sits at 45.

Analysis: The Seminoles appear to have a ticket to the BCS National Championship in hand if they can just win their final two contests, including the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game on Dec. 7. The offensive numbers are impressive for FSU this season with the team ranking second nationally in scoring (55.2 ppg) and sixth in total offense (532.5 ypg). Embattled QB Jameis Winston is on the short list of Heisman contenders, having completed just under 70% of his passes on the year, for 3,163 yards, with 32 Tds and just 7 INTs. Their is a cloud hanging over his head with a rape investigation in tow, but it looks like a final decision on charges will be made after the ACC Title game. A stable of quality receivers are at Winston's disposal down the field, headlined by wideouts Rashad Greene (57 catches, 889 yards, 9 Tds), while the backfield is equally stocked with Devonta Freeman, Karlos Williams and James Wilder Jr. all contributing to the team's 211.6 yards rushing per game. On the other side of the ball, the Seminoles are second in the nation in both scoring defense (11.4 ppg) and pass defense (156.5 ypg) and fifth in total defense (278.1 ypg).

Florida has had a rough year at 4-7 overall and they come in off an embarrassing home loss to FCS foe Georgia Southern last week. As if the losses were not enough, the Gators also will see a lot streaks come to an end this season, including 22 straight years of playing in a bowl game. Florida ranks an unbelievable 110th nationally in scoring (19.9 ppg), doing so on a mere 327.9 yards per game (111th nationally) and injuries are a big part of that. The team lost Jeff Driskel early on, and then recently lost Trent Murphy, leaving the offense in the hands of Skyler Mornhinweg, who has completed 63.2 % of his passes, but for just 229 yards and two scores in his last 2 games. On Defense the Gators rank 16th nationally in scoring defense (19.6 ppg), third in pass defense (157.7 ypg) and seventh in total defense (301.4 ypg).

Pick: Have to look the way of the Noles in this one. Florida state needs as many style points as they can get and they have been crushing teams of late, winning their last 7 games by an average of 48.1 ppg. That's incredible. The Gators would normally pose a bigger threat, but they have no offense to speak of at all and their defense is banged up as well. The Noles Blew out Clemson in Death Valley and Florida allowed Missouri to pile up 50 yards and 36 points vs them earlier in the year, plus the Gators are off embarrassing loss to an FCS team. This one will get ugly fast.
