College Football Tuesday Kent Golden Flashes vs Ohio Bobcats

College football on Tuesday night and we will see the Kent State Golden Flashes travel to Athens, Ohio to take on the Ohio Bobcats. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and be will televised on ESPN 2. Vegas odds have Ohio listed as 6 point favorites, while the total sits at 49.

Analysis: The Kent State Golden Flashes have had a tough year, going 3-8 overall and 2-5 in league play. Last week they did get their first win since September when they beat lowly Miami 24-6. The Golden Flashes have the eighth-most productive offense in the conference with an average of 353.6 yyp, but they are ranked 10th in scoring offense at just 18.6 ppg. Colin Reardon is the leader of the offense, but he has connected on just 58.5 percent of his pass attempts for 1,744 yards, with 11 TDs. WR Chris Humphrey has been the top receiving threat, with 48 catches for 559 yards and three scores. On defense the Golden Flashes have struggled this year, ranking 90th overall and 105th vs the run, but they do play the pass well, allowing just 218 ypg, which is 39th in the nation.

The Ohio Bobcats entered November at 6-2, but they have since dropped two straight decisions and they lost those two game by a combined 79-3 count. QB Tyler Tettleton led Ohio to the MAC Championship as a sophomore and currently owns nine school records including the program standards for passing yards (8,522), completions (684) and touchdowns (63), but he will be trying to bounce back from a dismal performance vs Bowling green last week, in which he finished 15-of-27 for only 93 yards and an interception. RB Beau Blankenship, who finished third in the MAC with 1,604 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 312 carries in 2012, has been held to 94 yards on 29 attempts in his last 2 games and hasn't scored a TD since Oct 14th. Ohio is third among MAC schools in total defense at 388.1 ypg, and fourth in points allowed per game at 25.3.

Pick: Have to look at the under in this game. The Bobcat offense has disappeared as they have scored just 3 points in their last 2 games and it will be hard for them to get that offense going in this one vs a Kent defense that has allowed only 11 ppg 240 ypg in their past two outings. Ohio has put up big numbers on the really weak defenses on their schedule, but vs good defenses like Louisville, Bowling Green and Buffalo they have struggled, scoring a TOTAL of 10 points in those 3 games, so they should have problems vs this improving Kent defense. On defense, Bobcats ave played very well at home, allowing just 18.8 ppg, while Kent has scored just 16.3 ppg on the road and just 18.6 ppg on the season overall. The final piece of the puzzle here is the fact that the last 5 in this series have all gone under the total, with an average of 34.2 ppg being scored in those games. This one has the makings of another low scoring affair.
