NFL Week 4 and we get a battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The game will be televised on Fox and has a start time of 4:25 pm (Eastern). Current Odds have Denver listed as 11 point favorites, while the total sits at 57.
Analysis: The Eagles have had one great half of play and that was in their opener vs the Washington Redskins. Since then it has not been so great for them and they come in on a two game losing streak. Good luck trying to break the losing streak as they take on Denver on the road. The high flying Eagles offense has looked good at times and they come in leading the league in rushing at 209 ypg, while ranking 2nd in overall offense, putting up 461.7 ypg. They are only 8th in scoring (26.3 ppg) as costly mistakes at the wrong times have cost them points. QB Michael Vick has been solid this year with 9.1 yards per pass attempt and 10.4 yards per carry, but he's also had too many negative plays, absorbing 11 sacks and turning the ball over four times. LeSean McCoy leads the NFL with 395 yards on the ground and also has y6 catches for 119 yards, which translates to 19.8 ypc. The Problem for the eagles this year has been their defense that comes in ranked 30th overall. 29th vs the pass and 26th in points allowed. They just can't get off the field and their fast paced offense could hurt this defense in the altitude of Denver.
The Broncos come in at 3-0 on the year and have been unstoppable on offense. The Broncos come in raked 1st in total offense (486.7 ypg), 1st in passing offense (374.7 ypg) and 1st in scoring offense 42.3 ppg. They could have a field day vs the Eagles defense. Peyton Manning is off to an MVP start and has thrown 12 touchdown passes, an NFL record through Week 3 of an NFL season. Manning has yet to throw an interception and has eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark each week. Manning has plenty of weapons as Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Julius Thomas and Wes Welker each all have at least 14 receptions and 190 yards receiving so far, while Knowshon Moreno (160 rush yards) leads a solid ground game. The defense has been dominant against the run and has offset its weakness against the pass, as the Broncos have allowed 323.7 ypg through the air so far.
Pick: Have to go with the Over here. Both offenses will just light up the scoreboard vs some very suspect secondaries. This game should easily hit the 60's.
