MLB Saturday Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles

Saturday night baseball and we will see the Boston Red Sox take on the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards in Baltimore. First pitch is scheduled for a 7:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on MLB Network. Current Betting Odds, according to Sportsbook.ag, have Baltimore listed as the favorite

Current Odds

Boston        +116
Baltimore     -126

Over/ Under: 9 -110

Analysis: The Boston Red Sox spent two months in first place but a recent offensive slump has them looking up at the Tampa Bay Rays. Most surprising is how little offense Boston (61-43) has managed versus Baltimore. The Red Sox lead the majors with 519 runs, but only 22 have come against the team that ranks 27th in the majors in ERA. They are batting .187 against the Orioles this year, with Jacoby Ellsbury going 7 for 34, Dustin Pedroia 5 for 26 and David Ortiz 3 for 19. Ryan Dempster is winless in his last four starts and failed to make it through the sixth inning in either of the last two while allowing a total of 12 runs (seven earned) in 8 2/3 innings. The Canada native had trouble with his command against the New York Yankees on Sunday and issued four walks. Dempster lost at Baltimore on June 14 despite yielding just two runs on five hits in 7 2/3 frames.

The Baltimore Orioles, are making up ground in a tight American League East race at the expense of Boston. The Orioles sit three back of Boston and 3 1/2 shy of first-place Tampa after ending a three-game slide by posting a 6-0 shutout of the Red Sox on Friday. Manny Machado and J.J. Hardy also homered for the Orioles, raising their major league-leading total to 141. Machado is batting .444 (16 for 36) with two home runs, five doubles and eight RBIs against the Red Sox this season. Scott Feldman turned in his best start since joining the Orioles earlier in the month at Kansas City on Monday, when he allowed two runs in eight innings to pick up the win. The veteran right-hander tossed three quality starts in four chances since joining the team. Feldman has made eight career appearances (two starts) against Boston, posting a 1-0 record with a 3.91 ERA in 23 total innings.

Pick: Going with the Orioles in this one. Boston just isn't hitting the ball right now and I feel that Feldman will have his best outing as an Oriole. Ryan Dempster is just 1-2 on the road with a 4.64 ERA and the Orioles are a very good offensive squad at home. Baltimore just playing so much better than the Sox right now and I say it continues after this game.
