Pregamers, it is time to prepare for another running of the Belmont Stakes. This is one of my favorite races of the entire year as it has produced a bevy of longshot winners in my 15 years of handicapping.
This year though will be hard pressed to find a longshot. Some of the odds I've seen from possible contenders have me shaking my head. Lani at 12 - 1??? In a typical Belmont year this horse would be a 50 - 1 ML and go off at 60-1 @ post time. Not saying he can't win, but he's done nothing in his two races to command that kind of respect. So if that is 12 - 1 than it's going to be hard to find value out there.
Exaggerator I feel could be due for a lackluster performance. He has put together six Grade 1 caliber efforts in a row now, after a slow start to his career. I'm almost certain he will be 1/2 odds in this race by post time. Which begs the question, how can a longshot like Lani only be 12/1???
Anyway, as great as Exaggerator is right now I will be looking elsewhere. I may even look to bet Place rather than Win if it looks hopeless.
One thing is certain you can count on me to provide you with a wager you can feel confident will cash. $$$
Stay tuned...
