All you horse players, make a note to yourself, as even though May 2015 is a long way away, Jockey Edwin Maldonado, a jockey who worked his way up from riding at tracks with $2,500.00 claimers, to tracks like Del Mar, Santa Anita and other highly competitive tracks, where the finest horses in the world compete, is now where Maldonado continues to hone his skills and improves every meet that passes, despite the morans who knocked him when he moved his tack to Ca.
Maldonado, now rides for Jerry Hollendorfer, Jeff Bonde, and John Sadler, as well as Peter Miller, Ron Ellis and many of the other great trainers that compete at these great tracks. I refuse to "jinx" Maldonado, but I know for a fact, through such top trainers such as Tom Amoss, who trains for one of the nations winningest owners Maggie Moss, trainer Al Stahl, who trains for Claiborne Farm, and who trained BLAINE, and Hall of Fame Owner/TrainerSteve Assmussen, to name just a few, that Maldonado is destined for greatness. Right now, Maldonado is riding a 2 year old colt, that if he stays sound, will win enough earnings and obtain the necessary credentials to qualify to run in The Kentucky Derby in May of 2015, on the first Saturday in May.
So remember this day, and this article, as if this horse, who I will not name yet, will be the horse that will put Maldonado, on the map, as a great rider, and then he will go on to become one of the greatest jockeys that ever lived. It takes a tremendous amounn of good fortune and yes "luck" to even get a horse in The Kentucky Derby. But if this horse stays sound, and jockey Maldonado stays healthy, both horse and jockey will both go down in history as being one of many greats. One great trainer, H.A. Jerkins, said, "this colt just might be greater than Seattle Slew. And that was the most talented race horse that ever lived, regardless of what you think. So just remember this thread, and this jockey and horse, just might win a Breeders Cup Race this year. And if he does not, he can still run in other races that will qualify him to run in The Kentucky Derby! And, if sound, he will win it, with Edwin Maldonado guiding him home to victory. Bet on it!
