This isn't specific to NHL, but since the playoffs are starting soon ...
I understand using the moneyline rollover strategy instead of making a Futures bet when it comes to one-and-done tournament style bets. Works great for the NCAA tournament, the NIT tournament, even the NFL playoffs.
But does it really work with MLB, NHL, and NBA playoffs where teams have to play best-of-5 or best-of-7 series for several rounds?
In a one-and-done scenario, you only stand to lose your original bet. But in a best-of series, you can lose the original bet repeatedly. Your team can win the first 3 games of a 7-game series and you're doing great, then lose the next 3 games (that's three "buy ins" you lose), and then clinch the 7th game to win the series. You lost 3 bets and made a little on the final game.
So does it make sense to just bet Futures in these types of playoffs, or is there a variation on the moneyline rollover strategy that can be used instead?
