Wow. What an eye opening day......here are a few responses in no particular order.....
Frankie - Ummm, yeah, if a surgeon that retired in 2012 went on a surgery forum to espouse a particular surgeon he had known way back when and then followed that up by advising the surgeons on the forum to be sure they washed their hands before going into surgery.......yeah, a few red flags might go up. It's a good forum Frankie, come strong to the hoop. Funny how Steve has been in here multiple times since your first post and hasn't mentioned your presence, even after all these years you'd think he would remember you and give you a shout out. Yeah, probably just an oversight, I'm sure you guys were buddies.
Andy, I hear ya'......bulk dollars, commit a % of your bankroll, long term subscriptions, etc.....my response is that it's time to take a broader view Andy. Think Chess, not checkers. Of course, I have tried season subscriptions and here is what I remember the most....you must be prepared to be tied to your computer and/or phone. The pro you are dealing with will wait until some prime number pops up at some obscure website and then send out a pick at any time of the day and say "OK, Oklahoma is minus 6.5 at a casino in the Bahamas so let's get down on Oklahoma and make some money". Well, of course I have to drop whatever it is I'm doing and get down on this 3* blockbuster, but lo and behold, every where I look the game is still at -7.5 and I am faced with the dilemma of betting the game at -7.5, buying it down to -7, or -6.5, or not betting the game at all. That is a regular occurrence Andy, I'm sure you won't have to go far to get agreement on here in regards to that scenario. And yes, of course, Oklahoma wins the game by 7, the pro counts it as a win, and the rest of us are a mixed bag of frustration, denial, or joy based on which actions we took. So yes, one alternative to that, and I'm guessing what most people do, is pick and choose daily or weekend packages based on videos, who's hot, who sounds credible, etc.... and buy a few plays and hope they hit. What we have learned here today is that using that formula will just not be profitable. So yeah, an eye opener for sure.
RJ - I respect your position, I respect your work and this website......but as poker players we have learned to read between the lines. Seriously, how much longer do we have to listen to the "back-to-back contest winner" defense? How many people were in that contest in 2008? 40? The guy won a contest 7 years ago, we get it! Seriously, how many times do you think you have mentioned or written about that 40 man contest in the last few years......1000, 2000, 5000 times?? If there was a drinking game based on how many times you brought up the 2008-2009 Super Contest on podcasts, videos, or forum posts the people on this website would need bottomless kegs to keep up. We are interested in winning games this weekend RJ, we are not BLAP players and we don't have season long subscriptions. We are weekenders and we'd like to win some college football games on Saturday and some pro football games on Sunday. That's it. Reading between the lines, one could argue that it might be wiser to draw to an inside straight......and we all know, in the long run, that is just not a formula for success.
639 rewards points......really hard to swallow that number sometimes -
Have a good week -
