As great as Arrieta is there was no way I could lay nearly $2.00 with him on the road against the Giants, who had won 8 in a row. To be honest, I had a lean to the Giants at that huge 'dog price. However, my respect for Arrieta kept me off the game.
Regarding Sonny Gray, yes this turned out to be his fifth straight mediocre-to-poor outing. I thought strongly he would turn it around in this start and still believe he will get things turned around. I wanted to be a step ahead of the curve. I also wanted a fade on Sabathia especially with the Yankees likely being without their three big relievers.
I also had a strong hockey opinion on the underdog Lightning - and they got there beating the Penguins. However, I didn't want to put out two Triple Stars on the same night trying to respect bankroll and not being on a major hot streak. In hindsight, I wish I would have made the hockey play the Triple Star. Please realize, though, as I'm sure you do that it's easy to pick games apart once the result is in.
