are you going to be on Medicare? The supplements aren't too expensive... Do you own your home or rent/mortgage? As Dave said, its all about what kind of retirement.
I want to retire by 50 and invest just about every dime I have aside from a small savings acct (synchrony bank earning 1%)... I am 100% invested in Vanguard Wellesley which is very bond heavy, but also has TIPS (not the ones we get from forum members), and dividend paying stocks... it has shockingly performed nearly the same as the S&P long term (9.84% since 1970 inception, 6.69% over last 10 years including 2008)
