Just had breakfast with my regular cast of characters and aside from the usual topics of the day in sports I brought up one other thing that came up in the forum yesterday. Will get to that in a moment. Local news as Missouri football defensive standout Terry Beckner, Jr was picked up on pot charges. Seems Terry was pulled over on campus and they found a baggie with some weed. Basically the whole thing elicits a yawn from the community and local fan base. On one hand most around here seem to understand that having some pot to smoke is just not a big deal. Not really. Also, we have had, as Mizzou fans so much bad stuff happen in the last year it is like punching a man you just electrocuted in the jaw, frankly the guy does not give much of a damn at this point. Yeah, it is still illegal and I get all that. Hopefully that will change before long. Just stupid. Also just my opinion and those of my buddies.
Now, onto the other thing. Yesterday I found myself truly scratching my head at something. Even more than usual. I have learned in my time with pregame, and I have indeed been on the site since day one, that it is rare, and I mean REALLY rare you can get the community to agree on squat. Guys will argue and debate any and everything. There will ALWAYS be someone will another point of view. Well, here is the deal. One of our community's most esteemed members, Hizz, is on vacation. He is staying at Universal in Orlando. Now, I went into his thread and told him to have fun, turns out he is staying at the same resort on site I put my family up at, Portofino Bay. I made a remark to my friend, and he is a friend of many years, to buy the express pass for the park. It cost's extra but to me it was a no brainer as you save a ton of time from standing in line. It obviously allows more time to actually enjoy riding the rides rather than stand in some line for an hour watching some kid in line by you picking his damn nose. When I have taken family to Disney, Universal or Magic Mountain in LA I always will invest the extra for the fast pass. To me it just makes more sense. Well, one member of the community took exception to it. Said those people were "elitist". That we were "cutting in line." Basically it was not fair to the regular Joes standing in line waiting. That patience has it's virtues. (True enough but what the hell does that have to do with this?). Anyway, I brought this up to my friends this morning and they did what I suspected, they laughed. Listen, those who know me know I am as regular a guy as you will ever meet. I am a people person. Hell, pool from the forum met my wife and I when in town for a game for dinner. He can tell you. BUT, I cannot see the logic of standing in a damn line when for some more money I can purchase another option that allows me to cut that time dramatically. And let my kids and I actually spend more time doing the rides. I understand that some folks are on a tighter budget and maybe they cannot afford the upgraded ticket. I am sorry for that, but I cannot afford to buy all of them fast pass tickets. That IS JUST LIFE. I am sorry some people can only afford to drive a 1996 Ford Escort. It does not make me feel guilty because I drive an Escalade. It is what it is. I was shocked that I was called out for suggesting to my friend that he purchase the express pass. The more I thought about it I realized nothing in today's society should shock me anymore. So I just am putting it out there. If anyone has a thought on it I would be willing to listen.
Okay, got that out of the way. Will be curious if anyone agrees with the other guy. I am fairly confident there will be somebody. We all see how on this forum people will argue about anything and everything.
Good luck this weekend with your action guys.
