At least that's the way I've felt over the past 1-2 weeks. All the breaks seem to be going against me and not for me. What do you do when you're in a similar slump?
Something I've read over and over (including from some pro's) is that you should decrease your bet size until things start to turn around. I'm sure I'll ruffle some feathers, but that is not very good advice
Take the example of a coin flip. You are getting +110 but you have to take tails every time. During one stretch of flips, heads lands 7 times in a row. Do you decrease your bet size until tails starts to hit again. I imagine that most people would say "No". So what's the difference in sports betting?
Whether you are flipping coins, betting on sports, or doing any other kind of gambling, variance is going to play a huge part. You are not going to lose exactly $1.36 for every $100 you place on the pass line, and you're not going to lose between $1 and $1.50 every single time you bet $100 on blackjack.
Unless you have done something to completely change the way you approach your betting in the time you hit your slump, your edge (or lack of an edge) has not changed. So what would be the logical reason to decrease your bet size?
Same when you are running well. Your edge has not changed, it's just variance shining kindly upon you for the time being. There's no reason to increase your bet size.
No one on the planet is any more lucky than anyone else. All the good and bad breaks will even out in the end. There's no reason to try to guess when one is approaching or another is ending.
*The only exception to this would be if you are strictly playing a percentage of your bankroll on each play. If that's the case, your bet size would increase or decrease daily, but it would be very minimal
