And your 2014 Heisman Trophy winner is - Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon at plus 1800 at TheGreek.com.
You heard it here first. A quarterback, or running back, has won the award every year since 1998, including Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne in 1999.
Things are in place for Gordon to have a monster season. No non-option team has run the ball more than Wisconsin during the last 13 years. That pattern certainly isn't going to change for the Badgers this coming season with their starting quarterback undetermined and a bunch of unproven wide receivers.
Just how good is Gordon? He's better than Dayne. He probably would have been the first running back taken in this year's draft if he would have come out.
What's held Gordon back from putting up monster numbers is Wisconsin has had other outstanding running backs. Gordon averaged 10 yards a carry two years ago, but had only 62 attempts because the Badgers had Montee Ball - who was the best running back in the Big Ten and a second-round pick of the Broncos - John Clay and James White.
Gordon carried 206 times last year rotating with White. He rushed for 1,609 yards, an average of 7.8 yards per carry, and scored 12 touchdowns. Gordon averaged five yards or more rushing in 10 of 13 games.
Now Gordon has center stage full to himself - and the Badgers aren't going to be reluctant to feature him.
On the handicapping front, I have my MLB Parlay of the Month going today. It can be found here: /pregamepros/pro-bettor/bettor.aspx?id=7746#capper.
As always no bad luck.
