some loss at the skill position on offense may be bumpy start w/ lack of flow in spread high speed. defense has nowhere to go but up, but simply replacing name (muschamp) won't cure all ills. Favorable schedule with some soft spots, and as you allude, LSU will be the big test down in the swamp. Lucky they scheduled that one for a 2:30 start, as don't want to be caught in baton rogue when the sun goes down.
if the hogs can stay healthy, big "if," think that will be a tough roadie; but lots of play before then to shake out. auburn doesn't have the depth and injuries will be key to their success (like most others). lots of tape on the wingbone formation will leave opponents better prepared. gus is master of jrco transfer maturation and maybe the hardest working coach in the biz.
agree, with a favorable schedule they should post a good record this year; but READ MY LIPS - they get buried in the swamp this year, as Les has got the goods. that game could have a trickle down effect as well sending the tiger in tailspin.
ten win season, very possible - but no more, imo.
CHALK TALK: AU was an over train with quick strike ability and fast past coupled with terrible defense. Likely to be same recipe this year, as defense tires taking field so quickly if offense can't buy time. Tigers as a dog is always a good buy, b/c gus can work with limited time and close the gap; but those op's will be few. As evidenced by talk in this thread and internet blabber, simply the mention of hire of muschamp is "going to right the defensive ship"; so maybe some influence on vegas early - but betting an auburn under is masochistic.
Love the SEC threads, Neil. Just my opine on these, so granule of salt.
