It was on this date, and I vividly recall watching the game, that UCLA standout Bill Walton scored 44 points to lead UCLA to it's 7th title in a convincing 87-66 victory over what I might add was a really good Memphis club. What is ironic is one of my daughters best friends dad was a player on that Memphis team. Bill was a guard who later went onto own the St Louis Blues hockey franchise for a period of time. But as for Walton, he played a simply brilliant game that night going a sick 21 of 22 from the field, just think about that. Walton went onto have a fine career in the league but was always plagued by bad knees. Now most people just think of him in terms of being an analyst on TV and radio. The man flat out knows the game but let's just say his mind tends to take off. You can be sitting there listening and then out of the blue he will go off on some rant and you cannot help but wonder if he is hitting the pipe during the TV breaks, lol. But all in all I enjoy listening to him. MOST the time.
Okay, a free winner. Tonight I suggest laying the number with the Big Blue Machine from Lexington. I know West Virginia will put up a game effort. We all know all about the press but it's my opinion Kentucky will deal with it and clear this number at around the 5:00 mark of the second half. I mentioned in a write up a couple months back that I thought the Mountaineers would make some noise in the big dance. Well, they have but unfortunately for them they draw this beast from Kentucky tonight. They will be a pest early on and get some folks all worked up who want the upset, but over the course of a 40 minute game I don't see it happening. I would not be shocked if the Cats won this thing by 20+ when all is said and done.
On the business side of things I do have a Triple Star in play tonight. Have now cashed on 10 of the last 13 College Triples. Over the last 70 college games overall have won at a 62% clip. Anyway, the Triple is loaded up and ready. I hope everyone enjoys the games tonight. Interesting match ups across the board. Take care fellas and best of luck.
