On to Tuesday. WE have several Monday plays still in limbo, but getting a head start on TUESDAY.
There are a lot of things to like about Tuesday.
Dodgers / Pirates — LA is looking like they will pick up the win on Monday, but I don't always buy into the revenge issue type thing in baseball. One thing worth noting: Josh Beckett has one of the best ERAs in the league, despite sporting a 6-5 record. He's coming off the disabled list but he has been DYNOMIIIIIIIITE on the road this year. Possible live dog here with the Dodgers.
San Fran / Phils — Pass.
Rangers / Yanks — Rangers still worst team in the league. Somehow they managed to piece together some decent innings at the plate on Monday night to scratch out (probably) an eventual win. The Yanks are laying some orange juice here in this one and have another youngster on the hill. Will look again tomorrow.
Red Sox / Jays — I think the Sawx used up their good swings Monday night. That's a joke, by the way. I don't know if we can back Jake Peavy right now. He's 1-5 on the road in nine starts. Jays checked out early on Monday night. I expect them to have a much better effort in this one.
Miami / Atl — Fish played hardcore Monday night in Atlanta. At the time of this being typed they are tied 1-1 in the ninth. I won't pay that much for Minor. Turner is a former Tiger kid that can struggle if he doesn't throw strikes, which happens. In his brief 3-year career Turner is 0-9 on the road. **EDIT Miami just got a 2-run single in 10th**
Fathers / Cubs — Just saw a line pop up at BO. See the Cubs are favored. Will look tomorrow.
Reds / Brewers — I am a believer in Milwaukee. This Reds / Brewers / Cards / Buccos race is going to be a really good one and I think the four of them will beat up on each other this second half of the year. I remember Homer Bailey coming out early of his last start against the Pirates, so not sure how he will be in this one.
Royals / W Sox — Royals are spiraling out of control. Sox don't hit lefties particularly well, but several of their guys have pretty solid numbers against the Golden Buddha Bruce Chen. Can't back the Royals at this point and not sure we believe in Carroll for the Sox. Could see some runs scored here.
Indians / Twins — Confused. Indians played really well in Detroit this past weekend and now they are not swinging the ball well on Monday night. Will look again in the morning.
Rays / Cardinals — Rays are red hot, which is why Carpenter is ONLY -160 at home. Can't imagine they will beat him up enough to pick up a victory here. Interesting line.
Nats / Rox — I don't think I can seriously suggest to people that they bet on a guy with the last name Flande. I could be wrong, though. Zimmerman is a bulldog for the Nats and is coming off a bit of some arm stiffness. I see they are leading 4-0 over the Rox Monday night.
Tigers / Dbacks — Tigers are hitting the ball hard (through one game and three innings). I know many aren't going to believe in them as they have struggled the past week or so, but this is still one of the best two teams in the American League. Rick Porcello has 12 wins, is a ground ball guy and could keep the Dbacks off-balanced.
Orioles / Angels — Angels are hot, but allowed Os to take 2-0 lead in first inning Monday. I like the way they are playing right now. It's a decent price for one of the hottest teams in the league, at least right now, but note Santiago's seven losses. Miguel Gonzalez is making a spot start for Baltimore. Not sure I like that against Angels.
Astros / Athletics — Looks like As are going to be the new -200 anytime they are home. Clearly not going to pay that, even if Vida Blue is on the mound.
Mets / Mariners — Looking at this one after the Monday night game.
