The early bird gets the worm, and not only did we get the Cubs Thursday, but we were way ahead of the market on that one. One game, one day, and working on Friday.
Opening lines were posted a bit ago and there's a couple I don't get.
Atl/Cubs
Not real sure on this game just yer. Arriera has been lights out for the Cubbies and the Braves have struggled recently. Not sure, however, if I can back the Cubs two days in a row.
Wash/Phils
I think this week is huge for the Phillies. If they are able to beat Milwaukee again today, plus have a good rest of the way to the All-Star break, they won't have to be sellers at the deadline. Have backed Burnett in the past and won, but we've done the same with Zimmerman. WHY IS PHILLY SO BAD AT HOME?
Pit/Cin
I am going to play Pittsburgh here, I'll tell you that already. We are UPGRADING the Pirates to a GOW Status. Everything, including the line move, is confirming our early bet. The Reds are just all kinds of banged up and they're playing a day game today, so there will be some rest, but I REALLY like backing Jeff Locke, who is an underrated guy that gets the job done. He's put together six straight quality starts, two of them coming on the road. Pittsburgh is another team that needs to stop spinning its wheels and I like them here.
Miami/Mets
Not particularly fond of Wheeler, like the Marlins at home (obviously). Might be a fade of Miami just because they are so bad on the road.
Stl/Mil
Coming into today, Brewers had won only once in July, so they are just not a team I can back right now. Cards went into Thursday's game winners of six of eight, getting some gritty victories. Always have to look at them as a dog.
SD/LA
I do like the Fathers here. I'm guessing they are going to be carved up by Clayton tonight, so a bit of a bounce back against a guy like Dan Haren, who keeps the ball in the strike zone, is possible.
Ari/San Fran
Lincecum has been back to his former ways, but Giants to inconsistent offensively to back right now. Obviously not going to back Bolsinger anywhere, let alone on the road. Pass.
White Sox/Cleve
Don't believe Kluber is good enough to be a -200 guy yet. White Sox live dog here.
Yanks/Os
Yankees have the most road wins of any team in the league. Pitching staff is beat up, but like their bullpen more than Baltimore's. Kuroda might be the best guy for the Yanks on the mound RIGHT NOW as a starter, so there could be some pressure there. Current Yanks hit .298 against Gonzalez in 84 plate appearances. MAYBE here.
Toronto/Rays
Rays just aren't good enough offensively this year. Jays are playing without Big Edwin at first and both of these clubs are going to be fighting for a playoff spot this year, I believe. No play.
LAA/Tex
Richards might now be the time he starts whether he's in the All-Star game or not. If he's voted in, we play the Rangers. If he's not voted in, we play the Angels.
Bos/Hou
Red Sox are not consistent, aren't good on the road, but they're favored here. Like both Feldman and Lackey in this spot, so an UNDER play is possible.
Det/KC
Depending on how tonight's game goes, we could have a big play on the Tigers here.
Oak/Seattle
OVER 6 runs.
Min/Col
Rockies.
