Editor's note: Although I have been doing well this baseball season I never consider an individual pick to be anything close to a lock. My baseball picks are part of a long term 'grind it out' strategy that will include a lot of losers. I caution you not to put a large % of your bankroll on any single one of my picks. This money management strategy applies to every sport but it applies to baseball the most in my case.
For Saturday I like the CUBS +120 vs the Reds (Cingrani vs Samardzja). Samardzja has been pitching well this season and teams are struggling to make solid contact off of him. The Reds' bats have been quiet lately and I don't think this is the matchup where they get back on track. Cingrani has looked good for the Reds but this is pretty much his first time through the league so his numbers will probably start regress a bit once hitters start making adjustments. Cingrani just faced the Cubs on April 23rd so look for the Cubs to have a better read on him. Like I have said before it is always an adventure when you have money on the Cubs but to me there is value on them at this price.
For Saturday I also like the METS +131 at the Braves (Niese vs Teheran). Although Niese has lost 3 games in a row he has been solid in all of them and I think the Braves' suddenly struggling offense could have a tough time against him. The Mets know they need to win every start from Niese and Harvey so they will certainly be motivated. Winnable game for the Mets so I will take the plus money.
