BOSTON RED SOX -1.5 -110
Could this be the last chance to fade Lincecum? Perhaps, not sure if the Angels have better options. Timmy's ERA coming into this one is a disastrous 8.70 with a WHIP of 2.30 and BAA of .391 (are you kidding me?). And this isn't just one bad game inflating these numbers, this is 7 starts spanning 30 innings, and including 1 very good start in his first outing! 9 home runs surrendered has not helped his cause either, so its not just teams singling him to death. Oh, and lets not forget 15 walks in 30 IP! Bottom line here, the guy is the worst pitcher going to the hill in the majors right now since Kyle Lohse was let go. The Red Sox are in the midst of a slump, their offense mustered just a single run last night in a masterful performance by David Price and a 2 run error lost them the game in what could have been a game ending double play ball. The Sox NEED to win here, and the matchup is as good as they will get all year with Rick Porcello, their best pitcher this year, facing the aforementioned Lincecum. Porcello has had a few blips, but never seems to get blown up as he carries an excellent 1.15 WHIP into this matchup. My only concern would be Porcello's history against the Halos, which is quite possibly his worst team to face in his career, but I will wager on the Sox and their offense being at least 2 runs better than the Angels tonight, probably more. After all, they seem due for one of those 13-2 games we haven't seen for about a week now.
