Two items today. One has to do with a sports history moment and the other a buddy's personal experience in Vegas. The first one is just kind of dopey moment that makes you smile. It was on this day back in 1922 that Babe Ruth was suspended for one day and nailed with a $200 fine for throwing dirt on an umpire. No, I wasn't around then but $200 was a lot of dough in 1922. Not sure what exactly that would equate to in today's dollars but it was a hit, even to Ruth.
The other item wanted to mention has nothing to do with sports. Just thought it was interesting considering everyone here common interest in gambling. I ran into an old buddy last night and he had a crazy experience in a trip out the Vegas. The kind we'd all like to have. I've been to Vegas many, many times in my life. Some trips better than others with the wallet. Like anyone. Well my buddy loves to go out there. He is a successful businessman and I respect his business sense a great deal. He is however, a born loser when it comes to gambling. And he admits it. But he loves action. Well he was out with a guy who worked for him as one of his managers and they stayed at Caesars Palace. Well they had no luck, all weekend. It was an expensive trip. Had some good times and laughs but nothing on the gaming end played out. Well my buddy was standing downstairs literally with his bag by his side waiting on his friend to come downstairs and they were heading to the airport. He waited and as usual his friend was late. He was looking at the slots close by and had told himself he was done for the weekend. Enough was enough. Finally after waiting a good while he gave in and went over to a slot. And sure as hell on the second chance hit that sucker for $50,0000. After getting his money and doing the tax thing he was on cloud nine. Who wouldn't be. Together they headed for the front of the hotel to make their exit. Then, he just had a feeling and stopped one more time at another slot machine ignoring his friends pleas to leave. And yes, sure enough after a couple of tries hit another machine for $10,000. All this occurred in about a half hour span. So, if you ever wonder if it can truly happen, yes it can. Of course the odds are stupid long but that stuff does happen. I wonder what the odds are of hitting two jackpots in that close a time period. Anyway, I thought it was a good story and that I would share.
Okay, a free play. Small play here on the Padres and James Shields against the Giants and Jake Peavy. I have the utmost respect for Peavy, he is a warrior and one of the most fierce competitors in the last couple of decades to take the hill. He is however showing signs that the end is approaching. That 60 feet 6 inches seems a little further for him now. Shields is no spring chicken but the value here lies with him. Nothing big but I like the Padres here guys.
On the business side I have a huge NBA Triple Star in play tonight. Have been on a nice run with the playoffs and cashed again last night with the Thunder beating the hell out of the Warriors. Again. Have hit on 70% of the Triples in May and long term the numbers speak for themselves.Anyway, now it not the time to let up on the throttle. Thanks as always and best of luck today guys.
