It was on this date back in 1962 that one of the most unheralded baseball players of all time got his 3.431st hit. Think about that. Yes, it was Stan the Man Musial of the St Louis Cardinals. I was too young to see Musial actually play in person but my dad did and he was his favorite player. When Cards fans meet at Busch stadium the most frequent meeting place if hooking up with friends for a game is the Stan Musial statue outside the stadium. Musial was just a quiet, soft spoken guy who always went about his business. Never garnered much attention as he was not a party guy and just never seemed to call attention to himself. Just went about his business and year after year put up big numbers. His work ethic and the way he carried himself set a great example for others to follow. His numbers over his long career speak for themselves.
Okay, a free winner for today. Tonight I am suggesting a wager on an underdog. I am going against my fan emotion and going with the Rockies in the role of underdog at Busch against the Cards. The Rockies are flying somewhat under the radar and have actually now prevailed in six of their last nine ball games. This will be the first time the Cards have faced off against Colorado starter Jon Gray. The Cardinals have been having a tough time gaining any consistency and have now actually dropped the last four games in which Michael Wacha has started. I think the value here lies squarely with the visitors guys.
On the business side of things we cashed last night with our huge Triple Star in the NBA playoffs as the defending champs got up off the deck after that shocking loss in the opener and dusted off the Thunder to square up the series. I felt they would bounce back strongly and they certainly came through for us with flying colors. I have isolated what I consider the strongest play on the board today and loaded it up as a Triple Star Diamond release.
Many thanks as always and best of luck today with your action fellas.
