Scott and Dave preview 4 MLB games on tonight's card.
Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays (-160, 9 O15)
Wade Miley vs Matt Boyd
Miley has been at his best in July in his career, but he will be taking on a team that crushes left-handed pitching. Dave feels that Miley has pitched better of late, but this lineup he will face to day has been amazing. He doesn't feel that that doesn't bode well for Miley.
Boyd struggled in his lone start this year, but the Sox are not a good hitting team vs lefties. Day feels that Toronto will win the game, but he isn't going to lay -160 on Toronto. Value may be on the Sox at this price, but he will stay away.
Texas Rangers vs Baltimore Orioles (-115, 8.5 O15)
Gallardo has been sizzling for the Rangers as he has a 4-0 mark with an 0.99 ERA in his last 7 starts. He takes a 23 inning scoreless streak heading into this game. Dave wonders how long it will last for him as he just isn't a pitcher that should be putting up these kinds of numbers. Dave feels that you do have the better pitcher in this game and the Rangers are getting players back of late, so they may be a team to watch in the 2nd half of the year.
Something has to give here as the Orioles are a hot offensive team as they have hit .290 with 35 HRs, while scoring 6 rpg in their last 21 games. Dave feels an upside for the Rangers is that Kevin Gausman is not really a strong starter.
Scott hasn't jumped on Gallardo during this streak and isn't looking to here either. He will pass.
Minnesota Twins vs Kansas City Royals (-143, 7.5 U15)
Kyle Gibson has pitched well this year, but he also has been lucky with many balls being hit at someone. He has a 3.13 ERA and his metrics say he should have about a 4.50 ERA. Still over the last month he has pitched very well and his metric have been better.
Chris Young has regressed some for the Royals of late and Dave feels that he is clearly the 2nd best pitcher in this game. Gibson is outpitching Young right now and the Twins are starting to call up some of their better prospects. They look like they are trying to win it this year. This is a confident team right now and only stand 4.5 games behind the Royals, who have not been playing good ball of late.
Dave feels that value is n the Twins here and Scott agrees with him, especially noting that Chris Young has been a much better pitcher on the road this year.
Seattle Mariners vs Oakland A's (-150, 7 U15)
The A's are 9 games under .500, but +48 in run differential. They either blow teams out or lose close games and Dave states that is clearly the fault of the pen, which hasn't been good this year. Dave feels that their record after 6 innings has to be pretty bad.
Seattle has some momentum right now and Dave isn't sure that they are a team that he wants to get in front of. Kazmir does get the edge here and Dave feels that the number is right where it should be so he will pass on the game.
