Both the Rams and Eagles traded up so they will be picking first and second in the NFL draft this year. Unless something unforeseen happens, I doubt either team selects the best player.
I have St. Louis and Philadelphia each taking a quarterback with the Rams going for Jared Goff and the Eagles selecting Carson Wentz. Neither of those players is among the top two players in my view.
I rate Mississippi offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott as the two best players in the draft. Tunsil could be in the Jonathan Ogden/Orlando Pace left tackle Hall of Fame category. Elliott is the most well-rounded, flawless running back prospect since Adrian Peterson.
It wouldn't be out of the question for a team to come up and trade with San Diego to get the third pick in order to grab Tunsil or Elliott. That would be far less of a gamble than going for Goff or Wentz, quarterback-league or no quarterback-league.
On the handicapping front, I went 1-1 on my Saturday baseball plays. I'm back in NBA and NHL action today. I am 73-46 on my last 119 premium and free NBA plays and 39-22-6 on my past 67 premium and free hockey plays. As always, let's have no bad beats!
