The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue tonight when the St. Louis Blues take on the Minnesota Wild in an NHL Playoffs Game 4 matchup. The game is scheduled for an 9:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Wild favored to get the win at home to take a commanding lead over the Blues.
The St. Louis Blues finished tied for the most points in the Western Conference this season with 109. The Anaheim Ducks also had 109 points through the regular season, but the Ducks are in a much better situation. The Blues find themselves down a game and they're on the road tonight, but they weren't a terrible team on the road this season.
Tonight, though, they need their biggest win of the season in order to stay comfortably in the series. Going down 3-1 isn't the end of the world, but it's not ideal either.
Minnesota is in a very good spot. The Wild look strong in a Game 3 win, getting a shutout from Devan Dubnyk despite saving only 17 shots. The Wild's defense has looked very nice through three games against the Blues, save for a four-goal effort in the second game.
If the Blues aren't able to win tonight, they will be in elimination mode the rest of the series. Ken Hitchcock's team averaged almost three goals per game during the regular season, which ranked fifth in the league, but outside of a four-spot in Game 2, they had just two tallies in the opener and were shutout just a few nights ago. The effort on the offensive end will be better tonight and don't be surprised if St. Louis pushes the issue when they have the puck.
Tonight the Blues find a way to get it done.
