Miami also sports a solid rush defense (currently ranks eighth in the NFL), which could slow San Francisco’s vaunted ground game.
However, the 49ers may not be in the mood to play back and forth with an inferior opponent. San Francisco did that last week in St. Louis and got burned 16-13 in overtime by the Rams. The loss marked the Niners first since getting drubbed 26-3 by the Giants on October 14th.
San Francisco has responded well in its previous five losses under head coach Jim Harbaugh, going 5-0 the following week while outscoring its opposition by an average of 17.8 points per game.
