NFL Odds
New Orleans -6
Total: 53.5 points
The Detroit Lions are in first place in the NFC North and playing some solid football to date. They’ve won three straight games overall and every single game they have played this season has been close, making the Lions one of those teams that is literally in every game when it comes to crunch time.
Detroit, in all seven of its wins, actually trailed late in the fourth quarter only to come back and win. Matt Stafford could be an MVP candidate this season if the Lions keep winning football games, in Detroit’s seven victories he has 14 touchdowns and just one interception.
Drew Brees is looking to lead the Saints back as well. They’re just 5-6 on the season, but they are 5-2 the last seven games after dropping the opening three games of the season. New Orleans is coming off a huge win over the Rams last week where they scored 49 points and got a strong game on the ground from Mark Ingram, who had 146 yards on the ground and averaged better than 10 yards per carry.
Detroit has the edge between these two defenses, which should be a major impact on this game. Brees and the Saints put up tons of yards and points all season and the Lions defense is going to have to keep them in this one.
Playing close games is a benefit to Detroit, that gives them an advantage here.
