New England Patriots 2013 Super Bowl XLVII Odds

According to the latest New England Patriots 2013 Super Bowl XLVII Odds, Tom Brady and company should expect to contend for another Lombardi Trophy. The Patriots are listed at +625 moneyline odds to win Super Bowl XLVII (second only to the Packers) and they are favored to win the AFC Championship as a +285 moneyline play.

New England’s performance last season would suggest the team is still in prime position to make another run at the championship, but based upon its Super Bowl XLVI loss to New York, it was also evident the Pats could ill afford to stand pat during the offseason should they hope to put another Lombardi on the proverbial mantle. But stand pat they did not, adding potential impact free agents in Joseph Addai (RB), Will Allen (FS), Bobby Carpenter (OLB), Jabar Gaffney (WR), Robert Gallery (OL), and Anthony Gonzalez (WR). The team also took measures to improve its suspect defense through the draft, selecting defenders, including potential first year starters in defensive end Chandler Jones and linebacker Dont’a Hightower, with six of its seven picks.

The Patriots cruised to another AFC East championship last season with a 13-3 record, and while Miami, Buffalo, and New York should all be improved, none of them look capable of unseating Bill Belichick’s squad, not this year anyway. New England does figure to be challenged in the postseason, though. Baltimore and Pittsburgh are perennial playoff players and upstarts like Houston and Denver could also pose a threat to the Patriots AFC Championship title. However, the Patriots were the last team to win back-to-back Lamar Hunt Trophies, capturing both the 2004 and 2005 AFC Championships; here’s predicting they will do so again this season.
