The NBA Playoffs continue Wednesday night in Game 2 between the visiting Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. The NBA Playoff odds for the game have the Heat favored by 8 points. The game is scheduled for a 8:30 pm start time and it will be televised live on ESPN. The spread shows that bookmakers have a prediction of a comfortable win at home for the Heat.
Picks: There's been some back and forth talk between the two teams in this series because LeBron James dribbled behind his back. He then got fouled hard by fouled by Kevin Garnett and now the Celtics are calling it showboating. However, Boston just needs to play better defensively. The Heat scored anyway they wanted to, connecting for 19 layups and dunks in Game 1. James and Dwyane Wade led the way for the Heat with 54 points and now it looks as if Ray Allen might be even more banged up than previously thought. He missed six of seven shots down the stretch and even missed four free throws in the game. That's only the third time ever Allen missed four shots from the charity stripe in a contest. In fact, he's only making 60 percent of his free throws in the playoffs. Yet, Boston is saying that will continue to play him. Might as well. Aside from Wade and James, the rest of Miami's team added 39 points, 32 rebounds, seven assists and six blocked shots. In order for the Celtics to get back into the game tonight and hope to steal some home court advantage, they're going to have to get more physical and keep Wade and James from dominating. Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo put up the numbers, but didn't exactly play well against the Heat in the opener. Celtics forward Paul Pierce is going to have to play better than he did in Game 1 if the Cs have a chance. He tossed in just 12 points with three assists.
Predictions: Lots of points to lay again with the Heat in this one, but with the way they ended the first contest, it's hard to imagine them winning by less than the spread. Miami, since falling 2-1 to the Pacers last series, have dominated. The Celtics are in desperate need of a great game, even if they don't win. Boston needs to have a close game in this one tonight or they could get beatdown a lot sooner than they wanted. I don't think they'll get that game and Miami is going to come out and continue to push the tempo against the older Celtics. Heat 96, Celtics 83
