Monday Night Football comes tonight from MetLife Stadium in E. Rutherford, New Jersey as the host New York Jets are currently favored by -7.0 over the Miami Dolphins with a total of 41.5. Betting odds on this game opened up at Jets -8.0 and 48.0 and the current NFL picks from the public are 79% on New York and 74% on the over. Cantor Gaming in Las Vegas in their preseason line predictions released in June had the game line set at Jets -6.5, so there is only a small difference even with the the original starter for Miami (Chad Henne) not playing due to an injury. In what was supposed to be "their year" as they were predicted to win at least 10 games (per opening season win total odds from Las Vegas), the Jets sit at 2-3 looking up in the standing at the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots after three straight losses. With an 0-3 skid, the Jets need to get the defense in sync that helped them win their first two games at home to start the season 27-24 (over Dallas) and 32-3 (over Jacksonville). Following the 2-0 start, the Jets gave up 30 points or more in each of their losses and quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a major disappointment in the throwing department.
Matt Moore steps in as the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and was a respectable 9-4 against the point-spread (7-6 straight up) when at the helm for the Carolina Panthers. Miami has yet to notch a win this season and are in the "suck for (Andrew) Luck) sweepstakes right now. The Dolphins historically are very solid road dogs and have covered close to 70% of their last 25 games away from home. Miami actually owned the Jets as of late, winning four of the last five not only against the number, but also straight up.
