The Washington Nationals are on the road taking on the St. Louis Cardinals tonight in Major League Baseball action. The Cardinals are an incredible 46-19 at home this year, Washington is obviously not a good team on the road, sitting eight games under the .500 mark. That alone gives the Cardinals a distinct advantage in this series.
Washington will throw Gio Gonzalez, he's 9-7 with a 4.11 ERA. Gonzalez has been good against the Nationals in his career, going 2-1 with a 0.93 ERA in four career starts against them. Current Cardinals are hitting .238 against him in 126 plate appearances, Jason Heyward has the most hits with six. Jhonny Peralta is the only player with a home run.
The Cardinals are throwing John Lackey. He's 11-8 with a 2.92 ERA on the year and has allowed the Nationals to hit .287 against him in 94 at bats. Jason Werth has the only home run and six hits in 12 at bats, Yunel Escobar has 10 hits in 27 at bats.
Lackey has been throwing well and has a 1-0 record with a 4.58 ERA against Washington in his career. His 2.30 ERA the last two and a half months is rather impressive as well.
