The Detroit Tigers are on the road again tonight in Major League Baseball action when they take on the Baltimore Orioles. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv as well as local in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Orioles favored to pick up the victory at home.
Detroit has become a seller in the market so far, giving up on David Price and Joakim Soria already. Whether or not they move any more pieces will be decided by the deadline this afternoon, but either way they'll look to move forward the best they can.
In tonight's game the Tigers will send out Buck Farmer, a youngster that is just 0-2 with a 9.22 ERA. He's obviously a bandaid for whatever Detroit is trying to accomplish this season as Farmer really has nothing substantial to offer. He's a guy they can't rely on and the 14 earned runs in just 13 2/3 innings of work this year is evidence of that. Only two Orioles have at bats against him, as Chris Parmelee and Travis Snider have gone 1-for-4 against him as Snider hit a home run against him for the only hit.
The Orioles will run out Wei-Yin Chan, a lefty looking to run his record even for the year. His 2.86 ERA is very solid and his 3-4 record in 11 home starts is a bit deceiving. He's allowed opponents to hit just .241 in Camden Yards in 75 innings. He has thrown 11 innings against the Tigers the last few years, going 1-0 with a bit of an inflated ERA at 4.91 while allowing them to his .220 in that time, the span of two starts.
With the uncertainty of the Tigers and who they could move within the next few hours, it's safe to like the Orioles tonight in this spot.
