Major League Baseball Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals continue their rivalry tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Cardinals favored to pick up the win.

Line: Cubs +101, Cardinals -108

Total: 8 (-120 over)

The Cubs enter this series with a 9-3 record in baseball action, many consider them to be the best team in the league at this point. The Cardinals haven’t been bad, either, going 7-5 to open the 2016 campaign.

John Lackey, former Cardinal, gets the baseball tonight for the Cubs. He’s 2-0 with a 5.68 ERA and joins Jason Heyward in facing off with their former team tonight.

Both teams coming in have scored a ton of runs to this point. The Cardinals are the top-scoring team in the league at better than seven runs per game, they also have 14 more runs than anybody else in the league. That second team is the Cubs, who average almost six runs per game themselves.

Offense could be solid tonight. Cardinal starter Mike Leake is 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA this season, he has given up four runs in both of his first two starts.

The edge here goes to St. Louis, playing at home. Both teams have won seven of the last 10 games and rank as the best two teams in the league in run differential. This should be an excellent game tonight, hopefully with some offense.

Free Pick: Cardinals
