Dialed In - Kentucky Derby Contenders 2011 [Handicapping Video]

Dialed In 2011 Kentucky Derby Betting Odds and Picks

Dialed In opened as the favorite in 137th Kentucky Derby at 4-1.Besides the $2 million on the line, a win by Dialed In would mark the third Kentucky Derby winner for trainer Nick Zito (Strike the Gold in 1991 & Go for Gin in 1994). At the post-position draw on Wednesday, owner Robert LaPenta cheered out loud when his horse was put in the favorable #8 post (10 horses have won the Derby from this spot). Can Dialed In match Big Brown from 2008 and become the 4th favorite in eight years to win the "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports"?

With jockey Julien Leparoux riding, Dialed In has won three of four career starts including his last outing at the Florida Derby. The lone loss was by only a half-length in a race Dialed In was favored at 1-5. Being a closer, the conditions and length of the race favors Dialed In as he already has notched a win at Churchill Downs in a maiden special race.

With almost every star aligning for this horse to capture the Kentucky Derby, the size of the field makes it difficult to think any horse is a "lock" to win this race. The largest field Dialed In has raced against was twelve, so there is a chance the bigger field (twenty horses) could throw him off his game with how physical the Derby is historically.

The Kentucky Derby is called "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports" for a reason.
