The Dallas Cowboys, the new darlings of the NFL after last week’s upset of the Giants, will take to the road for a second consecutive week as they meet Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field later this afternoon (4:05pm ET start time, FOX). The game total in today’s meeting between the Pokes and ‘Hawks is set at 42.5 points.

Dallas surprised just about everyone last Wednesday’s night when it traveled to New York and thumped the defending champion Giants 24-17 in the season’s first game. The Cowboys, who went into the game as a four point road dog, went into the break with a 7-3 lead, but they really turned it on offensively after the break.

Dallas, which finished the night with 10 yards per pass and 5.5 yards per rush averages, scored 17 second half points as Tony Romo connected on scoring strikes of 40 and 34 yards,

Seattle turned in a near opposite performance of the Cowboys in last Sunday’s divisional showdown with Arizona. The Seahawks, a three point road favorite, totaled 254 yards in 33:34 minutes of possession and it turned the ball over two times in falling 20-16 to the Cardinals.

Given Seattle’s solid preseason and the excitement surrounding rookie quarterback Russell Wilson, the flop at Arizona came as a surprise to many. Now there seems to be an overreaction in this week’s line as a result.

The Seahawks are getting little love from Joe Public, which is backing Dallas at 68 percent in spread betting. This could be a mistake as there is tremendous value in Seattle, a team that has covered in seven of its last 10 as a home dog, particularly at +3.5.
