The Cougars got some excellent news recently when quarterback?Luke Falk committed to coming back to school next season. Falk threw for 4,200 yards on the season with 71 percent completion rate and 37 scores. The Cougars are a high-profile offense that has 10 players catch at least 20 passes on the season and five guys catch at least 40 passes. They can really spread it around and that could be a problem for Minnesota on the defensive end.
The Golden Gophers nearly missed this game. They had 10 players suspended and the team threatened to boycott the game, but eventually decided to play. Whether they remain focused on this game will be interesting because getting behind the Cougars early can be a bad thing.
Minnesota will want to run the football and control the clock. Keeping Falk and the Cougar offense off the field will be critical to any success they may have, but the defense, which gave up better than 30 points per game this season, just won’t be good enough.
