The Michigan State Spartans are hosting the Michigan Wolverines in college basketball action on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. The college basketball odds for the game have the Spartans favored by a slim margin to pick up the win.

Any time these two teams meet up, it’s going to be an entertaining contest. The Wolverines are coming into this game off a big win at home over Indiana on Thursday night, beating the Hoosiers by 30 points in Ann Arbor. Now the Wolverines have to find a way to keep that momentum going and try to get a victory here.
Michigan State is not playing the way Tom Izzo had hoped. The Spartans lack a true leader on the floor like they have had in the past and it’s hurt them in the win/loss column. Miles Bridges is often times the most talented player on the floor, but he can’t do it by himself.
The Spartans don’t have great efficiency numbers, ranking 90th in offense. They average just over 72 points per game and the team has lost each of the last three games overall and now have to play Michigan twice in the next three games. Getting swept by the rival Wolverines would not be ideal for the Spartans’ potential NCAA Tournament chances, something they’ve been able to do for 19 consecutive seasons.
Both clubs are 4-4 in the Big Ten, tied for fifth place overall.
MSU has played a better overall schedule, plus they are 9-2 in home games this season. Michigan, as usual under John Beilein, has struggled on the road, losing all five of their games away from home in true road environments.
With the road/home splits these teams have, Michigan State feels like it should be a much bigger favorite than it is. Michigan really needs a road win and they are coming into this one playing well.
