Bookie Report: Tiger Woods now FAVORED to win The Masters

The books both in Las Vegas and offshore are reporting a profitable weekend, with shops catering to more square bettors calling Sunday one of the better NFL days of the season. The new week did not start off well for the bookmakers as it seemed both the public and sharp bettors were all over the San Diego Chargers who won easily over the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-14. The line of the week comes from Chris Andrews over at Cal Neva in Reno: "Tonight is one of the least appealing Monday Night games on record.  If it is a record, it might only last a week. Rams and Seahawks on deck." So let us get right into the recap direct from the bookmakers who took the action this weekend:

Weekend college recap:

"Saturday started great for us with Southern Miss's win over Houston.  The public has been pounding Houston all season with mostly positive results, but not in the championship game.  Big game for the house."
-Chris Andrews from Cal Neva

"S. Miss over Houston was a GREAT way to start Saturday."
-Oddsmakers from BetOnline

"Michigan St covering versus Wisconsin was a nice win for the house."
-Jimmy Vaccaro from Lucky's Race and Sports Book

"The worst college game was the LSU-Georgia game.  We had some wiseguy play on the dog, but not nearly enough to offset the public."
-Chris Andrews from Cal Neva

NFL Sunday recaps:

"Worst game of the day was the was Saints game but we got bailed out by it staying under. We would have lost 50% more if it came Saints and over."
-Jimmy Vaccaro from Lucky's Race and Sports Book

"Public and wiseguys were both all over the 49ers against the Rams.  We never really had a chance.  Unquestionably the worst NFL game of the day."
-Chris Andrews from Cal Neva

"As expected we had a large liability on Denver with the public jumping on the Tebow bandwagon, with exceptionally heavy turnover we incurred significant losses on the spread and side."
-Phill Gray the Line Management Supervisor from Sports Interaction

"In the NFL, Green Bay's winning but not covering against the Giants was a perfect result for us.  The Packers don't cover but keep the interest of the win streak alive."
-Chris Andrews from Cal Neva

"Outright dog wins by Seattle, Houston,Arizona, Tennessee and Kansas City were completely one-sided in our favor. Coupled with New England and Green Bay not covering we had by far our best Sunday of the season, and one of the best from the last few years."
-Phill Gray the Line Management Supervisor from Sports Interaction

Early action on upcoming NFL action:

"It’s pretty quiet. The numbers are pretty much painted everywhere. I haven’t seen anything move yet."
-Jimmy Vaccaro from Lucky's Race and Sports Book

With the college football regular season completed, what are the bookmakers saying about the upcoming bowl games:

"Would rather have a different matchup in the BCS Championship than a rematch of LSU-Alabama. I think it would create more interest. It’s a good game but I believe we wouldn’t done more business if it was someone other than Alabama like Oklahoma State."
-Jimmy Vaccaro from Lucky's Race and Sports Book

"We are seeing significant early square money on Oregon and Oklahoma St which should move those spreads easily by a full pt.? Early action is surprisingly split on Alabama/LSU, I expect Alabama could become the square dog in this one. That game could remain at pick all the way until game day when some sharp money decides otherwise."
-Phill Gray the Line Management Supervisor from Sports Interaction

"There will be lots of Wisconsin money showing in the Rose Bowl. Oregon travels well but there will be lots of Wisconsin fans. They will party in Las Vegas and then go to the game in Pasadena."
-Jimmy Vaccaro from Lucky's Race and Sports Book

"He's Back..." Tiger Woods has been looking great lately and after his recent win is now favored over McIlroy as the favorite to win the Masters:

"Tiger is a big story. With his improved play as of late, including his win yesterday, he overtook McIlroy as the favorite to win the Masters. We have him at 4-1 (opened 12-1)."
-Oddsmakers from BetOnline

Tidbits direct from Las Vegas, Nevada and RJ Bell of Pregame.com:

Tim Tebow and Denver Broncos:

Denver Broncos have won 5 straight games as underdogs.
$100 risked on the first game, then letting winnings ride, would have won $23,940.

Broncos only the THIRD team in last 20 NFL seasons to win 5 straight games as underdogs in each
(other teams: 2006 Titans; 2001 Redskins)

BSC Controversy

LSU opened as a 2-point favorite over Alabama

LSU would have been OVER A TOUCHDOWN favorite versus any other team

Alabama would be a 6-point favorite over Oklahoma State on a neutral field

Other Big Bowl Lines:

Oregon -4.5 over Wisconsin

Oklahoma State -3.5 over Stanford

Virginia Tech -3 over Michigan

Clemson -3 over West Virginia

Patriots beat Colts 31-24

Win makes 20-point and greater favorites 10-0 straight-up (since 1978)
But, 20-point and greater favorites have now lost 8 straight against the spread (last winning in 1992)
