AFC West Division Odds, Schedules

The AFC West is the one division that will head into this season with an absolute, obvious favorite to finish first. According to Vegas Odds that team is the Denver Broncos, an apparent Super Bowl contender again and the clear class of the AFC West in 2013. Below are the Odds for each team in the division, along with their schedules for the upcoming year.

Denver Broncos (-600): The one reason the Broncos are so heavily favored in the west and favored to get to the super bowl is two words: Peyton Manning. While the team has plenty of talent throughout the roster, it is having the four-time MVP under center that makes it all work at such a high level. There is no question it is Super Bowl or bust for Denver. To lose the division would be unthinkable, though never impossible.

Kansas City Chiefs (+800): The Kansas City Chiefs begin the Andy Reid era in 2013 as he takes over as head coach. There is real optimism in Kansas City that this year’s team will be vastly improved over last year’s squad that won just two games. The Chiefs would be a Super Bowl contender if they had a very good quarterback. Alex Smith does not qualify as one, unfortunately. Still, he and Andy Reid are both superior to the Matt Cassel-Romeo Crennel combination, so they'll be better than they were in 2012.

San Diego Chargers (+800): The Chargers began 2012 uncharacteristically fast, winning three of their first four games, but a series of costly turnovers and blown leads translated into six losses in their next seven games. The year ended with a disappointing 7-9 record, a third straight playoff absence and the firing of coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith. In steps head coach Mike McCoy and with him he brings some excitement to San Diego, but this is clearly a rebuilding year for the Bolts. They are on the right track, however.

Dec. 29 KANSAS CITY, 4:25

Oakland Raiders (+1800): There are few fan bases in sports who are as much fun and who are as passionate as Oakland Raiderfans are. The fan base has changed a lot though with all of the losing. The Raiders have one of the worst rosters the NFL has seen in decades. Their quarterbacks are terrible, their running back is always hurt, their receivers drop tons of passes, their offensive line isn't very good, their defensive line can't get to the quarterback, their linebackers have never played together, and their cornerbacks can't cover. It will be a long year in Oakland.
