2013 Elimination Chamber Preview: Start Time, Odds, Predictions

The picture for WrestleMania XXIX will become a little clearer after WWE's 2013 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view tonight. Elimination Chamber is the last PPV before the biggest show of the year. Unlike past years, there are still quite a few questions about how the card will unfold for WrestleMania. The waiting game should be over Sunday night, as those questions should be answered during the PPV. The Elimination Chamber will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana and has a start time of 8:00 Pm (ET) and will be televised live on PPV.

The Matches (Odds Courtesy of Paddy Power)

Divas Title --- Kaitlyn (1/12) vs Tamina Snuka (11/2) --- A late addition to the card sees Diva’s Champ Kaitlyn defend her title for the first time against Tamina Snuka. I think the WWE has been looking for a real dominant women’s champ for a while, and was en-route to booking Kharma as that unstoppable superstar before life took the turns that it did, so Snuka could do a good job of filling that gap – especially with the pedigree behind her Superfly Splash finisher. Prediction: Tamina

United States Title --- Antonio Cesaro (1/7) vs The Mizz (4/1) --- After going at it on the Royal Rumble pre-show, Cesaro and Miz mix things up again, but this time on the actual proper pay-per-view. Which is nice. Cesaro has been booked as a very dominant US Champ as of late, and has been quietly impressing with some headline worthy moments, including a stunning Neutralizer on the Great Khali not so long ago. Miz on the other hand has been passed the torch (well, by torch I mean Figure Four Leg Lock) by the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair. You can’t get a much better endorsement than that. Prediction: The Mizz

Six Man Tag --- The Shield (2/1) vs Sheamus/ Ryback/ Cena (1/3) --- The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) first made their presence known at Survivor Series (Nov. 18) when they attacked Ryback during his Triple Threat Match with John Cena and CM Punk for the WWE Championship. They have been on a rampage throughout WWE, taking out whomever they see as being part of WWE's systematic injustice of the system. No single person has been on the receiving end of The Shield’s vicious form of justice more than Ryback. He has had two WWE Championship matches interrupted by The Shield and has been the victim of their assaults more than any other superstar on the roster. The alliance of Cena, Sheamus, & Ryback have been working together as a team the past two weeks in their attempts to stop the Shield. On Feb. 4 episode of Monday Night Raw, John Cena informed the WWE Universe -- along with The Shield -- they have drawn a line in the sand at Elimination Chamber. Can John Cena, Sheamus, & Ryback protect WWE from the reign of terror? I believe they can. Prediction: Cena/ Sheamus/ Ryback.

World Heavyweight Title --- Alberto Del Rio (1/5) vs Big Show (3/1) --- Take one angry giant and a heel / face / heel again / face again Del Rio, and you’ve got a recipe for another strong World Heavyweight Championship match. It’s a little curious (but not unwelcome) that the WWE is seemingly sticking to longer-running feuds that cross several PPVs when it comes to the World Heavyweight title. Show’s been brutalising Ricardo Rodriguez to get over just how mean he can be, so expect Ricardo to take a few more bumps, but it’s unlikely that Big Show will bring the title home in this, their third championship match. I also feel that this will be the time that Ziggler cashes in his money in the bank opportunity. Makes sense cause a tired and beaten up Del Rio doesn’t lose face when losing to a fresh Ziggler, so doesn’t get hurt too much by dropping the title. Prediction: Del Rio retains, but Ziggler cashes in MIB and takes title.

WWE Title --- CM Punk (6/1) vs The Rock (1/14) --- You’ve got to love the work of CM Punk. The much talked about 434 day reign as WWE Champion saw him deliver consistently on the mic and in the ring. He’s even managed to be a talking point in the story of a liquor store owner who was shot in the eye, but felt that Punk losing to the Rock was the worst thing that happened to the plucky septuagenarian that same week. The People's Champ took to twitter and appeared on Raw in Las Vegas to thank the millions (and MILLIONS) of members of Team Bring It for their support and to tell them that FINALLY The Rock was WWE Champion for the first time in more than ten years. There’s no doubt that Punk and Rock will put on a great show, which I’d be very surprised if the WWE doesn’t use to close the night. Prediction: Rock/ Cena 2 will be set up as the Rock retains here.

Elimination Chamber Match --- Kane (25/1) vs Daniel Bryan (16/1) vs Jack Swagger (6/4) vs Chris Jericho (5/4) vs Mark Henry (3/1) vs Randy Orton (21/10) --- On the Feb. 1 episode of SmackDown, Booker T gave The Great Khali, Randy Orton, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, and Dolph Ziggler a chance to participate in the Elimination Chamber Match. Jack Swagger would make his return after a four month absence and demand to be included. Ziggler -- holder of the Money in the Bank contract -- felt that he did not have to put his body on the line since he was guaranteed a title shot. So he gave up his spot in the Chamber to his former tag team partner, Swagger. Mark Henry would make his own return that same night after being away for six months. He laid out Khali on the Feb. 8 episode of SmackDown, leaving the "Punjabi Giant" unable to compete in the Chamber Match. Henry also defeated Orton that very night to earn his spot inside the Chamber. Chris Jericho -- who made a dramatic return at Royal Rumble (Jan. 27) -- lobbied Booker for a place inside the Chamber. Booker gave Jericho an opportunity to prove himself in a match against Bryan on the Feb. 11 episode of Raw. Jericho would pick up the victory, and secure the last spot in the Chamber. Prediction: Jericho wins and sets up a possible Jericho vs Ziggler match at Mania for the World Heavyweight Title.
