2012 Wimbledon Odds - Serena Williams

The greatest and oldest tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon, returns on Monday from the All England Club in Wimbledon, London where they have been playing the same tournament since 1877. It is the third of the four majors played by both the men and women and generally regarded as the hardest one to capture. It's played entirely on grass and takes two weeks to complete. The 2012 Wimbledon Odds has Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams as the co-favorites for the tournament at 11/4 odds courtesy of the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly Las Vegas Hilton).

Williams has won back-to-back Wimbledon titles twice in her career. The first came in 2002-03 while her second set of titles came in 2009-10. The talk around the tennis world lately is whether or not Serena still has the drive to compete at a high level in tennis. The question was asked even more when Williams lost in the opening round of the French Open to 111th-ranked Virginie Razzano of France in three sets. Now Williams is saying she has "no intentions of stopping." And that's fine, she shouldn't consider stopping anytime son, she's still one of the best players in the world. That is no more evident than here at Wimbledon. Sharapova is the No. 1 ranked player in the world and is coming off a win in Paris and Williams shares the spotlight as both are the co-favorites to win.

Last year, Marion Bartoli knocked out Williams in the round of 32 in straight sets. Bartoli is an incredibly good grass player, much like Williams was a few years ago. Now, we aren't saying Williams still isn't a player that can compete at a high level, but I don't think she's the same player she used to be. She is going to be a major factor in this tournament, but I don't think she's going to win. Serena is considered one of the two favorites in this tournament, but her road to the semifinals isn't easy and it will take a full mindset of wanting to win for her to get there. I'm still not convinced she's as sold on tennis as she used to be.

2012 Wimbeldon Womens Odds: Maria Sharapova 11/4, Serena Williams 11/4, Petra Kvitova 7/2, Victoria Azarenka 6/1, Na Li 20/1, Kim Clijsters 25/1, Sam Stosur 25/1, Venus Williams 25/1, Caroline Wozniacki 30/1, Agnieszka Radwanska 30/1, Sabine Lisicki 40/1, Angelique Kerber 50/1, Marion Bartoli 60/1, Ana Ivanovic 60/1, Sara Errani 80/1, Svetlana Kuznetsova 80/1, Vera Zvonareva 100/1, Julia Goerges 100/1, Dominika Cibulkova 100/1, Jelena Jankovic 150/1, Tsvetena Pironkova 150/1, Francesca Schiavone 150/1, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 150/1, Yanina Wickmayer 150/1, Daniela Hantuchova 150/1, Shuai Peng 200/1 and field 20/1.
