The West Virginia Mountaineers are hosting the Texas Longhorns in college basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. West Virginia has won 21 games to this point in the season, the Mountaineers are coming off an overtime win over Texas Tech at home and should have beaten Kansas last week as well. West Virginia is an odd team — they can score a lot of points and play extremely tough on the defensive side of the ball, but opponents seem to be able to show up and hand with them from time to time.

In the team’s win over Texas Tech, West Virginia somehow didn’t make a field goal the final 5:42 of the second half, got to overtime, and then forced a second overtime despite not making a field goal in the first overtime.

Texas is a mess. Shaka Smart is looking at a very dismal 10-17 record and they have just four wins in Big 12 action. One of those losses came at home against West Virginia, but it was only by two points as the Longhorns put forth a pretty good effort.

The Longhorns are 0-9 on the road this season, they’ve lost three in a row and four of the last five games overall. There’s really no positives to this Longhorn season and there’s little to see them being able to pick up the upset here.

West Virginia is looking to bounce back, even after a win, but a game where they didn’t play well.
