The college football odds for the game have the Spartans favored to pick up the victory on the road.
College Football Odds
Michigan State -6.5
Total: 52 points
Michigan State was embarrassed last week at home by Wisconsin, so it’s tough to determine how good the Spartans can be. One thing’s for sure: they shouldn’t be favored by a touchdown on the road against an Indiana team that can put up points. The Hoosiers just recently lost a game at home to Wake Forest, quarterback Richard Lagow threw five interceptions in that game and the Hoosiers still lost by less than a touchdown.
Michigan State has won five straight in this series and covered in four of those games. Indiana likes to play the up and down style of football, which is something Mark Dantonio teams don’t let their opponents do. The Spartans are going to want to control the clock, keep the football on the ground and utilize clock.
Tyler O’Connor has to be better. Last week he threw three interceptions and this week he should step up and be a leader for the team, getting them back into a groove and playing better.
But this game stinks. The Hoosiers are coming off an embarrassing home loss where Lagow threw five interceptions and they routinely get rolled by the Spartans. Kevin Wilson’s team should be focused.
