The Houston Astros are hosting the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball action tonight. The game is scheduled for an 8:10 p.m. start time and the MLB Odds for the game have the Astros favored to pick up the win.

Houston has been playing better baseball the last month, now they have made it up to second place in the American League West, sitting behind the Texas Rangers. Oakland is 13 games under the .500 mark and basically has no shot to contend the remainder of the season on a large-scale sense. The As are 16.5 games outside of first place and have been out-scored by 70 runs in their games this season.

Tonight the Astros will run Doug Fister (8-5, 3.66 ERA) to the mound. Foster has made 16 starts on the season but has lost each of his last two decisions, coming up short at Kansas City and a home start against the Chicago White Sox. Fister has never really been a big strikeout guy and hasn’t fanned more than six hitters in a game this season. In 152 career at bats against him, current As hitters are hitting .283, though no one has hit a home run. Billy Butler has the most success with 11 career hits.

The As are sending Rich Hill (8-3, 2.31) to the mound. He has been a bright spot for a mostly brightless team. The lefty has made 12 starts this season and only given up two home runs and he has been dynamite in road starts this season.

Hill is 6-0 with a 1.40 ERA covering six road starts, he’s allowed only six earned runs over that time. If Hill can have another strong start tonight, the As could be in a good position to pick up a win.
