The Toronto Raptors are hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in the Eastern Conference Finals inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Current Vegas betting odds have the Cavaliers listed as 6 points favorites, while the total is set at 197.
Toronto proved in Game 3 that they could avoid the sweep. It was an excellent performance by the Raptors on their home court, but how much belief is there for Toronto fans moving forward?
Cleveland is clearly the better team overall and if Toronto continues to deal with injuries and inconsistent play from its two best players, it looks like a Cavs series win. The Raptors were an excellent team at home during the regular season and they looked strong in a 15-point Game 3 win.
LeBron James and the Cavs drilled Toronto in each of the opening two games as all three games have been lacking drama. In fact, neither team was able to reach the 20-point plateau during the fourth quarter the last time out.
Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were awful in Game 3, combining for 16 points on 4-of-28 shots. Toronto got a great game from Demar DeRozan, he played 40 minutes and scored 32 points. When he plays well the Raptors don't turn it over, they finished with just nine in Game 3 and cruised to the win.
It's going to continue to take a monumental effort from the Raptors to stay in this one. Most believe the series is already over based on Cleveland's play during the post season, but Toronto will look to even the series tonight.
This could be the first close game in the series. Cleveland is favored by a couple of possessions as oddsmakers clearly believe the Raptors can't put together two straight good games against the Cavs. But with a handful of possessions and the Raptors at home, they are worth a look.
