Major League Baseball Cleveland Indians at Detroit Tigers Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The Detroit Tigers are hosting the Cleveland Indians today in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Indians favored to pick up the victory on the road.

Cleveland beat the Tigers 2-1 last night, though Justin Verlander threw a strong game. The only two runs for the Tribe came on home runs, one was a leadoff bomb from Carlos Santana. Today’s game should see more than three runs scored, but the total is just 7.5 runs as both Anibal Sanchez and Corey Kluber can have strong outings.

Kluber has struggled in the early part of the season, though. He’s 0-3 on the season with a 6.16 ERA. He’s dropped all three starts this year while giving up 13 earned runs, though he has gotten into at least the sixth inning in each start. His lone start on the road came at Tampa Bay, he threw 7 2/3 innings and gave up three earned runs, the Indian offense could only muster one run.

Current Tigers are hitting .353 against Kluber over 133 career at bats. Miguel Cabrera has the best numbers of the bunch, collecting 19 hits, including five home runs, in 35 at bats for a strong .543 average. Victor Martinez also has three homers in 25 at bats.

Sanchez is 2-1 on the season, he’s got a 4.60 ERA. The veteran righty won his first two starts this season, but dropped his most recent start on the road at Houston. Sanchez has given up eight earned runs on the season, four of which came in that game against the Astros.

Current Indians are hitting .244 against him over 119 at bats. The past three seasons Sanchez has made 42 starts at Comerica Park and held a 3.71 ERA over that span. He’s also held opponents to a .219 average while striking out almost a hitter per inning.

Detroit needs a win. The offense hasn’t been nearly as good as it should be, where they have struggled to consistently score runs. Kluber hasn’t been himself, though, and this could be a nice spot for the Tigers to get back on track.
