Seattle is sending Felix Hernandez to the mound tonight, he’s 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA for the season. In his three starts this season he’s given up just two earned runs over 18 innings while striking out 20. Two of those starts came on the road, the one he lost was in Texas where the Rangers scored two unearned runs and picked up a 3-2 win.

Hernandez the last three seasons is 19-10 in road games with a 2.92 ERA, which are strong numbers over just under 300 innings pitched. He’s dominated the Angels as well, going 8-2 in 16 starts the past three seasons, holding them to a .185 average.

Mike Trout is the exception to that, he holds a .354 average against him over 65 at bats. Trout owns four bombs off him as well.

The Angels will send Nick Tropeano to the mound. He’s been exceptional this season with an 0.84 ERA over two starts, giving up just a single earned run against Minnesota among his two starts. Tropeano has thrown 10 2/3 innings in his two starts, collecting nine punchouts. Current Mariners have just 24 at bats against him, hitting .250 in those at bats. Nelson Cruz has homered.

Tropeano is 2-0 against the Mariners in his two starts, he’s given up four runs combined in those two games. But at this price, King Felix is worth it.
