The Houston Astros are in the cellar for the American League West. The 5-11 record ties them with the Minnesota Twins for the worst record in the AL. Houston has dropped three straight games overall, Boston comes in with a 4-6 record in the last 10 games.

Boston will send Steven Wright to the mound tonight, he’s 0-2 with a 2.13 ERA in his two starts this season, but he’s only given up three earned runs. Current Astros are hitting .375 against him in eight career at bats.

Collin McHugh gets the ball for Houston, he’s 1-2 with a 6.39 ERA this season. McHugh has made three starts this season and looked horrible in two of them. The opening start to the season saw him give up five earned runs on three hits while only getting a single out against the Yankees. He’s been better since then, looking great against the Royals in not allowing a run over seven innings. The most recent start saw McHugh give up four earned over 5 1/3 innings against Detroit, a start he lost.

Current Red Sox are hitting .260 against him in 50 at bats, Brock Holt and Xander Bogaerts both have a handful of hits against him.

Houston is struggling now and they aren’t scoring a lot of runs. Over the last nine games the Astros are averaging just under three runs per game. McHugh is going to have to be excellent tonight, but Boston is the right move.
